UPSTREAM-1
ICU Security Inc., has designed the Upstream Image Processor using breakthrough realtime image processing techniques. The processor isolates a single direction-of-movement vector from multiple moving targets within a scene and generates an alarm response to the users criteria. It is ideally suited for access in airport control-lane applications.

The Technology
Dynamic Looped Pipeline, a proprietary imaging technology by ICU Security Inc., provides for high-resolution image processing. The Upstream can process each pixel ( the smallest image element) in as little as 12 nanoseconds.
The pipeline, which is a means of parallel processing, divides the task into 7 independent stages. The output of the pipe is looped back to the input. This is a verification technique, which ICU Security Inc. calls motion-over motion. This technology not only integrates out the noise factor by averaging, but validates motion by convultion in the time domain.
Dynamic, blob analysis, algorithms are used to isolate moving objects from their background. The tracking is done by what ICU Security Inc. calls spatial-convolution-overlap algorithms.
ICU Security Inc. uses highly integrated components which increase reliability and reduce the cost of the Upstream technology.

Features
- Multiple target tracking - up to 3840 targets.
- 5 criteria for qualifying alarms:
1) Contrast
removes the effects of shadows.
2) Size of Target
The average expected size of the target. This will qualify alarms from objects exceeding this size threshold and reject false alarms; e.g. arms or luggage swaying "backwards" in airport control lane applications
3) Verification Time
Increments of 1/10 second. This qualifies an alarm by the duration of motion. It also intelligently rejects nuisance alarms; e.g. insects close to the lens.
4) Direction
This qualifies an alarm on the range of movement directions. The target can be moving at an angle up to 90 degrees either side of this vector to qualify.
5) Area Mask
Isolates a rectangular area for analysis, up to the full image size.
- Supports all international video standards.
- On-screen programming using 4 buttons.
- All settings saved to non volatile memory.
- 16 character camera ID message, positionable anywhere on screen.
- From-C hard contact alarm output.
- RS-232 for remote control from PC or modem.
- Low Power 185mA (7 to 15V DC)
